Join us for a community "Walk-About" on Saturday June 1, 2013. All three TrailRiders will be seen at different locations en route from the Town Centre Hotel parking lot along Joyce, down Alberni, along Marine, up Duncan and back to the beginning.
Businesses, service providers, community members, riders, teams and individuals are all welcome.
Teams can be made up of 2-4 people and we LOVE Volunteers!! It is hoped each team would wear something identifying who they are or their business (eg hats: uniforms or carrying a sign). If you're not with a team - we can make up teams with individual volunteers.
The "Walk-About" runs between 10am to 2 pm but "Your Amazing Team" need only be there for it's time slot. The whole route (3.1km) we estimate would take an hour but we have also broken it down into to shorter 1km sections which would take approximately 20 mins.
Note: 2013 PROGRAMMING MID-MAY TO SEPTEMBER
Hikers can rent TrailRiders year-round for a nominal fee ($10 per day) to explore a destination of their choice at their convenience.
Donate here and help make TrailRider adventures and nature even more accessible!
SOME PAST NEWS:
October 9, 2012
What a year it's been!
PRMOS ends it's first year of programming just shy of 100 particpants!
Riders enjoyed trails, atop rocks, over logs, made visits to the farm and on beaches in and around Powell River.
Without a doubt, the heart of PRMOS has been it's volunteers. Volunteers who give so much of their time to helping others and PRMOS couldn't have done it without them!
We've witnessed how much more relaxed our riders are after being in nature and how much they enjoy socializing with each other and the volunteer "sherpas" when sharing these adventures.
TO ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS:
THANK YOU everyone. You've made this summer very special to many and have given some incredible opportunities to our riders.
We loved how you banter back and forth with each other as you navigate the trails, sharing the teamwork and interactions with the riders. It's been inspiring to watch as everyone learns a little more about each other while on these amazing adventures together.
Does it have impact? Here's a child's response to what he liked most about his TrailRider experience: "I could touch the leaves" and Rebecca's mom, Maria, sharing with us after her daughter's first outing: "Thank you for making it possible for Rebecca and I to hike again. We haven't hiked together since she was small enough to carry on my back. I have attached
a photo.... these smiles are rare and special".
Rebecca went out many times after that. Hearing her laughter in the trails was priceless.
Without the generous support of the Powell River Community the season would not have happened.
THANK YOU POWELL RIVER! Share the adventures - check our photos on FLICKR
